Place Value

We will begin our year studying Place Value in math. We will learn the value of each digit up to the millions place. We will learn different forms of writing numbers and practice these by writing a check for a new car! This will be part of our performance assessment for our e-math unit. We will also be comparing numbers by using some of the surrounding counties' populations. Here is another fun site to practice matching standard form to expanded form. This is a fun game to test your skills. This site offers several games to practice our skills learned using place value.

We will be studying 2-digit multiplication. This website will be great to practice on but keep to doubles for now! Multiplication concentration is always fun. This website will take you step by step through multiplication. Try a few. You might want to try a 3-digit by 1-digit number. You really want to be good at 2-digit by 1-digit so you will be ready for the chapters to come. To make sure you have a handle on all of this learn those basic facts and brush up on mental math. Game 1 on this site will help with both basic facts and mental math. Now this should keep us busy for awhile!

FRACTIONS
We have learned how to write fractions, using parts of a whole, naming fractions, and visualizing fractions. We have learned how to find equivalent fractions. We have also learned how to find the fractional part of a number, how to change improper fractions to mixed numbers and mixed numbers to improper fractions, and how to add and subtract fractions. This was a neat site to practice changing mixed numbers to improper fractions. Here is another cool site for equivalent fractions. This is a concentration game for equivalent fractions.
